Jared M. Nussbaum, Purdue University
To All Readers:
It’s very nice to meet you! I write as a PhD student at Purdue University studying giftedness, i.e., the spectrum of high ability and the patterns of behavior associated with this construct. I’ve decided to launch a Substack page so that I can both document my thoughts and engage with the growing scholarly community on the platform, in particular those studying giftedness as well.
As far as my interests are concerned, they’re quite broad, and you’ll see this reflected in my musings. As mentioned above, I’m most interested in the patterns of behavior associated with high ability. In particular, I study the acutely intense and internal—often private—experiences of the most severe forms of giftedness in the human population. Or, as my doctoral advisor terms it, I study the most “elegant” forms of giftedness.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this page is narrowly focused, though. You’ll see material outside the study of high intelligence as well, including reflections on language, metaphysics, meditation, what it means to be “smart”—that’s a core focus of mine—the experience of anxiety, mental disorders and their respective internal signatures, and the corrosive effects of social media on virtually everything.
Please do join me in thoughtful reflection on topics of interest to this audience or any other. I sincerely look forward to your engagement, and thanks very much.
Jared Nussbaum

Great, that's wonderful. :)
